Rituals

Rituals

VortexXtra has two very different kinds of rituals. One is a crafting method, the other is a genuine event you have to trigger and survive. This page covers both.

Last updated August 2026. Part of the VortexXtra Item Catalog. See also: Angel Token and Demonic Token.

Ritual Crafting

This is how you make Infernal Essence, Runes, Essence of Afterlife, Seraphic/Archangel/Satanic Essence, and upgraded Gold Carat Bars. There's no altar block to place, the "altar" is wherever you're standing.

How to do it:

  1. Drop the exact ingredients for a recipe on the ground in a small cluster.
  2. Right-click a nearby block while holding Flint and Steel or a Fire Charge.
  3. If a lit fire is nearby, the ritual centers on that instead.

The game scans a small radius around where you clicked, gathers up any dropped items, and checks if they exactly match a known ritual recipe, no extra items, no missing items. Drop double the ingredients and you'll get double the output in one go.

If it works: you get a burst of flame and soul particles, a couple of dramatic sounds, and your items instantly become the finished product. Simple as that.

If it fails: and it's not gentle about it. Whether you're missing the exact ingredients, haven't unlocked the recipe yet, or just dropped a random pile of junk, your items are destroyed, gone in a puff of smoke, no refund. Make sure you've got the recipe unlocked and the exact ingredients before you strike that flint.

The Sacrifice Rituals

This is the real event, and it's how you get the Angel Token and Demonic Token. These two rituals mirror each other exactly, one light, one dark, right down to the mob you need to kill.

Setting It Up

  1. Place a chest with a full 5x5x5 clear area around it, nothing but air.
  2. Fill the chest with the exact required items (see each token's page for the full list).
  3. Get a specific mob to stand over the chest.
  4. Kill it.

If the chest isn't stocked exactly right, or the area isn't clear, nothing happens, your items stay safe in the chest. Nothing is lost on a failed attempt here, unlike the Ritual Crafting method above.

What Happens Next

Once triggered, you're in for a real show:

  • The chest and its contents vanish, and the ritual begins.
  • Items pull out and arrange themselves into a themed pattern around the summoning point, before spiraling inward.
  • The ground around you transforms, blocks nearby convert into themed materials and spread outward like an infection.
  • Hostile mobs spawn and come after you, themed to match the ritual.
  • After the effects finish, your token drops, and the transformed ground reverts back to normal.

Come prepared, this isn't a passive crafting moment, you'll need to fight off what shows up.

A Few Notes

  • Ritual Crafting has no separate unlock beyond each individual recipe, if you've unlocked the recipe in your guide, you can perform it.
  • The Sacrifice Rituals have no level requirement at all, the only gate is getting your hands on the exact items and pulling off the kill.
  • Both Sacrifice Rituals only produce a single token per attempt, and you'll need real preparation (mob farming, high-tier materials, and a fight afterward) each time you want another.
