Shovel Enchants

Shovel Enchantments

Shovel enchantments are special upgrades applied to custom shovels via Enchant Crystals.

Each shovel can hold multiple enchants, though a couple conflict with each other.

Unlike the hoe's combat-focused kit, the shovel's enchants lean into digging, detection, and economy - it still swings like a weapon, but its enchant pool rewards players who dig, explore, and gather.

Enchant lines appear on the shovel's lore between the separator lines, above the VortexArtifacts footer.

Rarity Tiers

Rarity controls how often an enchant shows up when rolling a crystal - weights are per-enchant, and higher rolls more often.

Enchant Slots

The shovel follows the standard material progression.

Rolling a crystal past the cap doesn't block it, but cuts the base success rate by 10% (only exactly at cap) - Crystal Dust can offset this, but never above the crystal's original base.

Common

The bread and butter. These show up constantly - expect to see all six before long.

Mudslide I

No movement slowdown on mud, soul sand, or other wet terrain types.

Deep Dig I - II

The shovel ignores 2 water blocks above the dig point at I, or 3 at II - dig underwater without draining the area first.

Sand Blast I - II

Breaks sand in a 2×2 column straight down at I, or 3×3 at II, in a single swing.

Bog Walker I

Automatically converts swamp mud into a passable path as you walk over it.

Pathfinder I - II

Root Breaker I - II

Removes all surface vegetation in a radius - grass, flowers, roots - 2 blocks at I, 3 blocks at II.

Uncommon

Solid tools with a bit more character. You'll roll these regularly once you're past the commons.

Excavator I - II

Breaks a 3-wide path in the direction you're facing at I, or 5-wide at II.

Compactor I

Gravel and sand drops automatically compress into full blocks instead of cluttering your inventory as loose items.

Earthmover I | Conflicts: Magnet Shovel

Broken dirt and sand teleport straight to your inventory regardless of distance.

Magnet Shovel I | Conflicts: Earthmover

All drops within 5 blocks are auto-collected after each dig, not just dirt and sand.

Fortify Ground I - II

Dug areas leave briefly hardened, non-breakable ground for 3 seconds at I, or 6 seconds at II.

Subterranean I - II

Bonus digging speed while underground - 15% at I, 30% at II.

Trapper I - II

Leaves a shallow pit at the dig site that slows entities passing through - mild at I, stronger at II.

Dust Cloud I

Digging kicks up a brief dust cloud that blinds nearby mobs for a moment.

Rare

Specialist enchants. These define a build. You know when you roll one.

Treasure Sense I - II

Chance to dig up bonus loot from gravel, sand, or soul sand - 10% at I, 20% at II.

Landslide I

Breaking sand or gravel triggers a cascade of breaks in the blocks below it.

Aftershock Dig I - II

Each break sends a tremor that also breaks the adjacent block at I, or two adjacent blocks at II.

Legendary

The rarest enchants on any shovel. Most players never roll one.

Earthen Ward I

After digging 3 or more blocks straight down, gain brief fall damage immunity.

Root Network I

Breaking mycelium reveals nearby mooshroom and rare mushroom spawns.

Earthmover and Magnet Shovel both auto-collect dig drops through overlapping mechanisms, so only one can be active at a time. Conflicts are filtered out before the crystal rolls, so you'll never waste one on an incompatible outcome.
